Newget’s favourite Christmas tradition is probably the worst kept secret. Newget likes to keep it simple and fabulous. We love to keep company with the ones we love, and send love out to the ones we miss everyday. There is nothing better than sharing delicious food, refreshing libations and merry cheer.
And chocolate. There is very little that goes better with Christmas than chocolate.
This month we wanted to share with you our latest experiment in our ‘Baking with Newget’ series. Santa is on his way for a visit, and that guy loves homemade cookies (doesn’t everyone!). We’re not sure if Santa has ever gotten to experience the joy of Newget, so we decided to come up with a couple cookie recipes involving delicious Newget bits.

We’re going leave you with this Christmas poem we stumbled upon when reviewing our Newget Employee Handbook. We’re pretty sure it’s one of those things that got lost when “wine happened”.
A Newget Christmas Carol.
‘Twas just a few weeks before Christmas, when all through the city,
Not a creature was purring, not even a kitty;
The stockings were flung at the chimney without care;
The tree looks perfect, but who even knows what the heck will go under there!?
The kids are all smug in their beds,
With visions of upcoming gift spoils dancing in their heads,
And Mom in her fuzzy slippers, and I with my whiskey nightcap,
Are trying to settle our minds around all this Christmas crap!
Our cellphones, emails and lists all full of questions and wonders,
What does everyone want, what does everyone need, we constantly ponder!
Gadgets and gizmos, baubles and jewels,
Who needs all that junk, why are we hoarding like fools?
Tell me, wasn’t your finest Christmasy time,
Filled with sweatpants, family, puzzles and wine?
Fill your house with friends and family, laughter and joy,
Make memories with gingerbread houses, not a new finicky toy;
Fill your bellies with snacks and sweets,
Take some lovely time off your feet;
Bake Santa some cookies, and leave him some Newget;
He asked us to remind you, so don’t you forget it!
Before you slip off to bed to snore like a log,
Leave Santa a note so he can find the rum and eggnog;
Christmas is about giving, it’s not about getting,
Share your love and excitement; let your heart go of its regretting;
Remember the wonder and magic of it all,
And don’t forget, your Mother expects a Christmas morning phone call;
Merry Christmas to you and your family, from us and ours!
With much festive joy,
