A new flavour of Newget!

It is always exciting when we launch a new flavour of Newget (which we try to do once or twice a year), and this time is no different.

The Newget Kompany is thrilled to be a part of Indulgence 2012, one of Edmonton’s top draw food and wine events, on Monday, June 11.  Even more exciting is that at the event we’ll be debuting our new flavour of Newget: Salted Caramel.

If you are a caramel lover, or just love Newget period, this flavour will not disappoint.  We took the incredibly good caramels from Buttery Bites Caramels, made locally by Star Bright Farm in Bay Tree, Alberta, and melted and reduced them down. Then we added these tiny little caramel pieces to our milk chocolate Newget and folded in roasted almonds and some flakey Maldon sea salt. The end result? A salty, sweet Newget flavour that crackles in your mouth and makes your taste buds sing. Early taste testers are saying this might be the best Newget flavour yet!

If you are lucky enough to be at Indulgence on Monday, drop by our booth for a sample of Salted Caramel Newget and some of our other flavours. We will also be selling Newget on site, in case a sample of this new tasty fabulousness just isn’t enough. If you can’t make it to Indulgence, we will always be selling Salted Caramel at the City Market Downtown and our other retail locations.

Taste it soon. We know you will want more!

Newget’s Cousins Around the Globe

You know and love Newget as Newget. But leave Alberta and travel anywhere else in Canada or around the world and you will see Newget as you know it take many other forms.

Nougat, as it is known elsewhere, is a traditional candy made with sugar or honey along with roasted nuts and dried fruits. You can find white nougat (made with egg whites) which has a softer texture, and brown nougat (made with caramelized sugar) which is often firm and crunchy.
